HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 53-76FRS: pw RESOLUTION NO. 53-76 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, KERN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF KERN TO CONSOLIDATE THE GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND ELECTION OF SAID CITY TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 2, 1976, WITH THE STATEWIDE GENERAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE SAME DATE 8/4/76 WHEREAS, this City Council has commenced proceedings for the calling of a general obligation bond election in the City to be held on November 2, 1976; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that said general obligation bond election be consolidated with the statewide general election to be held on the same date and that within the City the precincts, polling places and election officers for the two elections be the same, and that the Board of Supervisors canvass the returns of the City general obligation bond election and that said statewide general election and said general obligation bond election be held in all respects as if there were only one election; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows: SECTION 1. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern be and it is hereby requested to consolidate the general obligation bond election to be held in said City on November 2, 1976, with the statewide general election to be held on said date. SECTION 2. That the exact form of the proposition to be voted upon at said general obligation bond election as the s~me'shall appear'on the ballot is ~s follo~s~" -1- Shall the City of Bakersfield incur a bonded indebtedness in the principal sum of $15,500,000 for the acquisition of all Kern River water, water rights, waterworks and water facilities of Tenneco West, Inc., Kern Island Water Company and Kern River' Canal and Irrigating Company described in the Acquisition Agreement entered into by the City as of April 12, 1976, and all expenses incidental to or connected with the authorization, issuance and sale of the bonds? That the proposal shall be designated on the ballot by a letter printed on the left margin of the square containing the description of the measure, as provided in Section 10219 of the Elections Code. SECTION 3. That the Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said City general obligation bondselection, and that said general obligation bond election and said statewidegeneral election shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election,. and only one form of ballot shall be used. SECTION 4. That said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to issue to all officers of said County charged with duties pertaining to said statewide general election instructions to take any and all steps necessary for the holding of said consolidated election. SECTION 5. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors of said County and with the Registrar of Voters of said County.
