A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD INCREASING THE COMPENSATION
TO VARNER BROTHERS INDEPENDENT SANITATION
SERVICE, PRIVATE REFUSE COLLECTOR UNDER
CONTRACT NO. 98-70, EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 1976.
WHEREAS, on November 9, 1970, the City of Bakersfield and
Varner Brothers entered into Contract No. 98-70, wherein Contractor
agreed to collect and dispose of refuse accumulated at various loca-
tions within the area assigned to such Contractor and City agreed
to compensate such Contractor in accordance with the residential
rate and commercial schedule attached to said contract; and
WHEREAS, on April 22, 1974, the City Council, by minute
order, increased the compensation to be paid to said Contractor by
fifteen (15%) per cent; and
WHEREAS, the Budget Review and Finance Co~,~f~ittee has
recorf~f~ended a ten (107o) per cent rate increase for residential and
commercial refuse collection and disposal services performed by
Contractor, effective July 1, 1976.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
1. For services performed by Varner Brothers Independent
Sanitation Service under Contract No. 98-70, as amended, compensation
to such Contractor shall be increased by ten (107o) per cent, effec-
tive July 1, 19 76.
2. The increased residential rate and the Commercial
Schedule, as amended, are set forth in Exhibit "A" attached hereto
and made a part of this resolution.

SCHEDULE: Minimum Charge. Charges for residential service as defined in this Contract to
be at the rate of $3.06 per month for each residential unit.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 28th day of June, 1976, by the following
