ARESOLUTION.OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD WITH RESPECT TO HIGH FLIGHT
BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION AND SPACE MUSEUM
IN BAKERSFIELD JULY 12 THROUGH 18.
WHEREAS, there will be a High Flight Bicentennial Celebra-
tion and program in the Greater Bakersfield area during the week of
July 12 through July 18, sponsored by the Greater Bakersfield Minis-
terial Association in cooperation with the High Flight Foundation,
an interdenominational organization dedicated to the pursuit of
personal liberty and religious freedom; and
WHEREAS, during the week the High Flight Mobile Space
Museum will be available to the public at the Civic .Auditorium
parking lot with colorful and informative exhibits and displays,
including a lunar rock sample; and
WHEREAS, the bicentennial Celebration will b~.~..highlighted
with weekend programs on Friday, Saturday and sund,ay (July' 16, 17
and 18), at 8 P. M. at the Civic Auditorium featuring outstanding
music and special events, and culminating with a presentation by
Apollo 15 Astronaut James Irwin; and
WHEREAS, this unique program emphasizes both America ' s
achievements in space exploration and the spiritual values that stand
at the very foundation of our country.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City
of Bakersfield hereby recognizes and supports the dedicated efforts
of the High Flight Foundation and the.. Greater Bakersfield Ministerial
Association in their area-wide presentation during the week of July
12 to July. 18. and encourages all citizens of our community to support
and participate in this inspirational bicentennial celebration.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 28th day of "june ..... , 1976, by
