RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
DI:RECTING THE PLANNING COMMISSION TO SELECT CHANGED
BOUNDARIES OF THE DOWNTOWN BAKERSFIELD REDEVELOPMENT
PROJECT BY THE ADDITION OF LAND SELECTED FROM WITHIN THE
AMENDED AND REDESIGNATED DOWNTOWN REDEVELOPMENT SURVEY AREA,
AND TO PREPARE AN AMENDED PRELIMINARY PLAN FOR THE PROJECT
WHEREAS, pursuant to the California Community Redevelopment Law
(Health and Safety Code, Section 33000 et seq.), the City Council on December 26,
1967, by Resolution No. 103-67, designated the Downtown Redevelopment Survey
Area in the City of Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, the City Council on April 3, 1972, by Resolution No. 17-72,
amended and redesignated said redevelopment survey area to include additional
area; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission on April 5, 1972, by Resolution
No. 2-72, selected the boundaries of the Downtown Bakersfield Redevelopment
Project and formulated the Preliminary Plan for the redevelopment of the Project
area; and
WHEREAS, on August 14, 1972, the City Council by Ordinance No. 2033,
approved and adopted the Redevelopment Plan for the Downtown Bakersfield
Redevelopment Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council on May 13, 1974, by Resolution No. 36-74,
again:amended and redesignated said redevelopment survey area to include addi-
tional area; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission on May 15, 1974, by Resolution
No. 13-74, selected changed boundaries of the Downtown Bakersfield Redevelopment
Project by the addition of land selected from within the boundaries of the
amended and redesignated redevelopment survey area, and formulated the Amended
Preliminary Plan for the Project; and
WHEREAS, on November 25, 1974, the City Council by Ordinance No. 2216,
approved and adopted amendments to the Redevelopment Plan, which amendments
included providing for the addition of land to the Downtown Bakersfield Rede-
velopment Project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has again amended and redesignated the
Downtown Redevelopment Survey Area to include additional area; and
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency staff has completed
preliminary studies of the additional area and has concluded that the expansion
of the boundaries of the Downtown Bakersfield Redevelopment Project by amend-
ment to the Amended Redevelopment Plan is feasible.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council hereby directs the Planni.ng Commission, in
cooperation with the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency, to select changed
boundaries of the Redevelopment Project by the addition of land selected from
within the boundaries of the amended and redesignated Downtown Redevelopment
Survey Area as illustrated on the map attached hereto and labelled as Exhibit "A."
2. The City Council hereby further directs the Planning Commission,
in cooperation with the Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency, to prepare an amended
Preliminary plan for the redevelopment of the area added to the Redevelopment
Project, and to submit said amended Preliminary Plan to the Redevelopment Agency
for the preparation of proposed amendments to the Amended Redevelopment Plan and
of a supplemental environmental impact report therefor.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting
thereof held on the 22nd day of- December 1975, by the
following vote:
