A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD REGARDING DEVELOPMENT OF
AN AIR QUALITY MAINTENANCE PLAN FOR KERN
COUNTY.
WHEREAS, Kern County has been designated as an Air
Quality Maintenance Area by the State of California, Air Resources
Board; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield is located within Kern
County; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Clean Air Act of 1970 and regulations
promulgated by the Environmental Protection Agency of the Federal
Government require that Air Quality Maintenance Plans be prepared
for all air quality maintenance areas; and
WHEREAS, the Air Resources Board intends to develop and
implement such Air Quality Maintenance Plans within the next two
and one-half (2~) years in cooperation with local governments; and
WHEREAS, the Air Resources Board plans through a joint
State/local task force covering Kern County to develop by December,
1975, a detailed process for air quality maintenance planning.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Bakersfield
agrees to participate in the development of said Air Quality
Maintenance Plan for Kern County; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council will commit
good faith effort toward the development of this plan; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,. that upon joint adoption of the
Air Quality Maintenance Plan by the City of Bakersfield and the
Air Resources Board, the City of Bakersfield agrees to coordinate
its general planning process with said plan.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 16th day of June, 1975, by the following
vote:
