A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING
A CONTRACT FOR REPAIR OF SEWER LINE ON AN
EMERGENCY BASIS.
WHEREAS, a section of the outfall main sewer system located
at the intersection of Brundage Lane and Lakeview Avenue has collapsed;
and
WHEREAS, the City Finance Department has contacted several
contractors who do this type of construction work; and
WHEREAS, the low bid by Field and Gooch exceeded the $4,000
limit for projects permitted without notice in the official newspaper
by one or more insertions at least five days before the time for
opening bids; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Engineer and City
Manager, the collapse of the sewer line has caused serious traffic
congestion and hazards at the said intersection and has thus created
an urgency in repairing the said sewer line;
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield, State of California, as follows:
1. The City Council authorizes the award of the bid to
perform emergency sewer repairs to the 42" sewer line at the inter-
section of Brundage Lane and Lakeview Avenue-as per plans and specifica-
tions on file in the City Engineer's office to Field and Gooch in the
amount of $4,825.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 16th day of November, 1970, by the
following vote:
