A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD SUPPORTINGPROPOSITION 1,
ON THE STATE BALLOT PROPOSITIONS.
WHEREAS, Proposition 1, the Clean Water Bond Law of
1970, provides for a state bond issue of $250,000,000 to provide
funds for water pollution control and
WHEREAS, the funds raised by the bond issue will allow
the State to assume a share of the cost of sewage treatment
facilities now born by the cities, and
WHEREAS, such participation by the State will relieve
local property taxpayers from assuming the' major cost of expensive
sewage treatment facilities, and
WHEREAS, passage of Proposition 1 will qualify California
for up to $550,000,000 in federal funds which funds will go else-
where if the Proposition fails, and
WHEREAS, water pollution in the State of California
must be eradicated by expensive water pollution facilities, and
WHEREAS, the participation of State and Federal funds
will reduce the costs to local residents for such treatment
facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. The City Council supports the passage of Proposition 1,
"Clean Water Bond Law of 1970" on the 1970 State ballot.
2. The City Council urges the news media of this City
to give as wide coverage of this resolution as possible to the
general public.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the COuncil of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 2nd day of November, 1970, by
the following vote:
