HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 29-70RESOLUTION N0. 29-70 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF APRIL 20 BICENTENNIAL WEEK IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD. WHEREAS, the State of California is celebrating its 200th anniversary of the settlement of the State of California, and WHEREAS, 1970 has been proclaimed Bicentennial Year by the State, and WHEREAS,' as the State Bicentennial Commission is meeting here in Bakersfield Wednesday, April 22, 1970, for the purpose of commemorating its anniversary here in Bakersfield, and WHEREAS the Bicentennial Commission will tour local historical spots in Kern County and the Kern County Bicentennial Committee will help in celebrating the 200th birthday of the State with a parade and appropriate festivities Saturday, April 25, 1970, and WHEREAS, it is fitting that all people in the community and the County be made aware of these festivities and take note of their heritage and join in the celebration.
