96-73
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD APPROVING REVISIONS IN ROUTE 58
FREEWAY PLAN AND AUTHORIZING AMENDMENT OF
EXECUTED FREEWAY AGREEMENT DATED FEBRUARY 19,
1962, COVERING SAID FREEWAY IN THE CITY BETWEEN
WEST CITY LIMIT AT WIBLE AND EAST CITY LIMIT ON
EXTENSION OF QUANTICO AND AGREEING TO ACCEPT
CONTROL OF CERTAIN STREETS.
WHEREAS, the State and the City of Bakersfield have
heretofore entered into a Freeway Agreement dated February 19,
1962-,. cgvering the Route 58 Freeway in the City of Bakersfield
between the west city limit at Wible Avenue and the east city limit
on an extension of Quantico Avenue; and
WHEREAS, it is the mutual desire of the parties thereto
to make certain revisions to the original plan of construction
shown on said Agreement; and
WHEREAS, Exhibit A, attached hereto, indicates the
original plan of construction as shown on said Agreement; and
WHEREAS, Exhibit B, also attached hereto, indicates the
revised plan of construction in the City of Bakersfield and is
considered satisfactory by the City staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield, State of California, as follows:
a. That the revised freeway plan shown on Exhibit B
is hereby approved. The revisions include the following:
(1) Elimination of -
(a) The alley east of Oakdale Drive between
Bank Street and Verde Street, and the proposed alley connection
to Verde Street.
(b) Verde Street east of Oakdale Drive.

(c) Caverna Drive.
(d) The proposed frontage road between Olive
Street and Stephens Drive on the south side of the freeway.
(e) The proposed realignment and construction
of Stockdale Highway between Real Road and Route 99.
(2) Addition of -
(a) An alley connection between Olive Street
and the alley east of Olive Street on the north side of the freeway.
(b) A cul-de-sac on Olive Street south of
Caverna Street.
(c) An alley connection to the alley east of
Olive Street on the south side of the freeway.
(d) A cul-de-sac and road closure on Terrace
Way east of relocated Wible Road.
(3) Relocation of -
(a) The Doresta Drive cul-de-sac and road
closure to end about 250 feet west of the centerline of Olive Street.
(b) Wible Road on new alighment curving to the
east between Belle Terrace and Brundage Lane. A portion of relocated
Wible Road north of Terrace Way will be within the city limits of
Bakersfield.
b. That the City agrees to accept control and maintenance
over each of the relocated or reconstructed City streets, and the
frontage roads, alleys and other State constructed local roads on
notice to the City from the State that the work thereon has been
completed, except as to any portion thereof which is adopted by the
State as a part of the freeway proper. The City will also accept
title to the portions of such roads and alleys lying outside the
freeway limits, upon relinquishment by the State.

c. That the said Freeway Agreement be amended to
incorporate the revised freeway plan in accordance with this
resolution.
d. That the City Clerk of the City of Bakersfield is
hereby directed to forward two certified copies of this resolution
to the State of California, Department of Transportation, District
6, P. O. Box 1352, Fresno, California 93715.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 12th day of Novembe~, 1973, by the
