A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD ADOPTING AMENDMENT NO. 1 TO THE
OPEN SPACE ELEMENT OF THE BAKERSFIELD METRO-
POLITAN AREA GENERAL PLAN.
WHEREAS, the City Council did, on June 18, 1973, adopt
t~e Open Space Element of the General Plan in accordance with law;
and
WHEREAS, the City is authorized by Section 65356.1 of
the Government Code to change or add to any element of an adopted
General Plan and the City Council has referred such amendment to
the Planning Commission for a public hearing and report; and
WHEREAS, Amendment No. 1 to the Open Space Element,
consisting entirely of text, has been prepared and placed on file
in the office of the City Clerk and the Planning Department for
inspection by the public; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission of the City of Bakersfield,
on the 1st day of August, 1973, by its Resolution No. 6-73, approved
said Amendment No. 1 t6 the Open Space Element, after notice and
hearing as required by law and transmitted such amendment for
further action in accordance with Article 6, Chapter 3 of Title 7
(commencing with Section 65350) of the Government Code of the
State of California; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Sections
65351 and 63555 of the Government Code, due notice of the time and
place of a public hearing before the City Council was given, to
wit, by publishing such notice in the Bakersfield Californian, a
newspaper of~.general circulation, on August 11, 1973; and
WHEREAS, the City Counc~l"held and ~ondu~ted a' public
hearing, in every respect in accordance with the published notice
and the law, on August 27, 1973, for the purpose of hearing
any person desiring to be heard on the matter of the adoption of
Amendment No. 1 to the Open Space Element of the Bakersfield
Metropolitan Area General Plan.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. That the attached amendment, being. Amendment No. 1,
to the Open Space Element of the Bakersfield Metropolitan Area
General Plan, consisting of text only, is hereby adopted.
2. That the Clerk of this Council shall endorse in
writing on said Amendment No. 1 to said Open Space Element to
show that it was adopted by the City Council on August 27, 1973.
3. That the Clerk of this Council shall forthwith transmit
endorsed copies of said adopted Amendment No. 1 to the Open Space
Element to the Secretary of the Resources Agency and to the Planning
Commission of the County of Kern.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 27th day of August, 1973, by the following
vote:

AMENDMENT NO. 1 To
Open Space Element of
The Bakersfield Metropolitan Area
General Plan
1. The last paragraph on page 22 of the text of the Open
Space Element concerning agricultural land standards, entitled
"Transmission Lines" is hereby amended to read as follows:
Transmission Lines. New and relocated transmission lines
shall be constructed on existing utility rights-of-way, where possible.
2. The third paragraph from the bottom, on page 28, of the
text of the Open Space Element, concerning recreational land standards,
entitled "Utility Lines," is hereby deleted.
3. The sixth paragraph from the bottom, on page 43, of the
text of the Open Space Element, concerning scenic lands standards,
entitled "Utility Lines," is hereby deleted.
