A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD PROVIDING FOR THE CONSOLIDATION
OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL LOW RENT HOUSING PROJECT
ELECTION WITH THE GENERAL STATEWIDE ELECTION TO
BE HELD ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1972, AND REQUEST-
ING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF KERN
TO ORDER THE CONSOLIDATION OF SAID ELECTIONS.
WHEREAS, Section 23302 of the Elections Code provides that
whenever an election called by a city for the submission of any
question or proposition is to appear upon the same ballot as that
provided for a statewide election, the city shall, at least 74 days
prior to the date of the election, file with the Board of Supervisors,
and a copy with the County Clerk, a resolution of its governing body
requesting such consolidation and setting forth the exact form of the
question or proposition to be voted upon at such election, as the
same is to appear on the ballot; and
WHEREAS, on the 21st day of August, 1972, this Council did
pass and adopt Resolution No. 47-72 calling a Special Municipal Low
Rent Housing Project Election to be held in the City of Bakersfield
on the 7th day of November, 1972, for the purpose of submitting to
the electors within the City of Bakersfield the question of approval
of a low rent housing project therein under the provisions of Article
XXXIV of the California State Constitution; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council that said Special
Municipal Low Rent Housing Project Election be consolidated with the
State of California General Election to be held on Tuesday, November 7,
1972'-
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
(1) That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern is
hereby requested to make an order, pursuant to Section 23302 of the
Elections Code of the State of California, consolidating the Special
Municipal Low Rent Housing Project Election called by the Council
of the City of Bakersfield for Tuesday, November 7, 1972, with the
State of California General Election to be held on the same date.
(2) That the proposition, as the same is to appear on the
ballot, is as follows:

Shall the Housing Authority of the County
of Kern develop, construct and acquire in Yes
the City of Bakersfield, with Federal
financial assistance, a low rent housing
project or projects not to exceed in the
aggregate two hundred (200) dwelling units
for living accomodations for elderly persons
of low income? No
(3) That within the City of Bakersfield the precincts,
polling places and officers of election for said Special Municipal
Low Rent Housing Project Election shall be the same as those pro-
vided for said State of California General Election within said
City.
(4) That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern
is hereby authorized to canvass or cause to be canvassed the returns
of said Special Municipal Low Rent Housing Project Election, and
shall certify the results of the canvass of said returns to the
Council of the City of Bakersfield, who shall thereupon declare the
results thereof.
(5) That the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit and
file certified copies of this resolution with the Board of Supervisors
and the County Clerk of Kern County, as required by Section 23302
of the Elections Code of the State of California·

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on th~ 21st day of August, 1972, by the follow-
