HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 91-71 . . ," .~ '. ~ " RESOLUTION NO. 91-71 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD SUPPORTING THE EFFORTS TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC CONCERNING SICKLE CELL ANEMIA AND URGING CITIZENS TO COOPERATE IN TESTING FOR THE DISEASE. WHEREAS, Sickle Cell Anemia is a painful disease affecting over two million people, and WHEREAS, it is necessary that early detection and education be tended to sickle cell carriers, and WHEREAS, the March of Dimes and other organizations spend ~ funds toward the education of people as to sickle cell anemia, and WHEREAS, early detection is necessary for the control of the disease. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. The City Council supports the efforts of the March of Dimes and other agencies promoting education of and information concerning Sickle Cell Anemia. 2. All citizens are encouraged to take the tests avail- able for the detection of Sickle Cell Anemia. ----------000---------- . . ,- .
