A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD SUPPORTING PROPOSED LEGISLATION
FOR THE FORMATION OF A METROPOLITAN TRANSIT
DISTRICT.
WHEREAS, in order to establish a Metropolitan Transit
District throughout the Greater Bakersfield area, including both
incorporated and unincorporated territory it is necessary for the
State Legislature to adopt a special act, and
WHEREAS, such legislation has been proposed in a document
entitled "Proposed Legislation - Greater Bakersfield Metropolitan
Transit District", and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield has
received a favorable report from the Water and Growth Committee
which cofmnittee has studied and has met with other interested
committees relative to the merits of the proposed legislation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
1. That the proposed legislation entitled "Greater
Bakersfield Metropolitan District" dated February,
1971, is hereby approved.
2. That copies of this Resolution with copies of the
proposed legislation be forwarded to Senator Walter
Stiern, Assemblyman William Ketchum and Assemblyman
Kent Stacy and respectfully request introduction
of the proposed legislation as an urgency measure.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakers field at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 8th day of February, 1971, by the
following vote:
