A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF THE COUNTY OF KERN TO ORDER THE CONSOLIDATION
OF A GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WITH THE GENERAL
ELECTION TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE COUNTY ON
NOVEMBER 4, 1980, AND SETTING FORTH THE LIST
OF CANDIDATES TO BE VOTED ON AT SUCH ELECTION,
AS THE SAME IS TO APPEAR ON THE BALLOT.
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of July, 1980, this Council did
pass and adopt Resolution No. 46'80 calling a General Municipal
Election to be held in the City of Bakersfield, on the 4th day of
November, 1980, for the purpose of electing a Mayor of the City of
Bakersfield, for a full term of four years; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council that said
General Municipal Election be consolidated with the General Election,
to be conducted by the County, on the 4th day of November, 1980.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield as follows:
1. That pursuant to Section 23300 of the Elections Code
of the State of California, it is hereby ordered that the General
Municipal Election called by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
for November 4, 1980, be consolidated with the General Election,
conducted by the County, to be held on the same date.
2. That the list of candidates for the office of Mayor
of the City of Bakersfield, as the same is to appear on the ballot,
shall be as follows:
MAYOR
VOTE FOR ONE
Charles H. Dodge
Retired Sheriff
Mary K. Shell
Writer
3. That for the purpose of said General Municipal
Election the precincts, polling places and officers of election
within the City of Bakersfield shall be the same as those provided
for said General Election, to be conducted by the County, within
said City.'
4. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Kern is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said General
Municipal Election, and shall certify the result of the canvass
'of said returns to the City Council of the City of Bakersfield,
who shall thereupon declare the results thereof.
5. That the Clerk of the Council of the City of
Bakersfield is hereby directed to transmit and file certified
copies of this Resolution with said Board of Supervisors and the
Clerk of Kern County, as required by Section 23302 of the Elections
Code of the State of California.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 16th day of July, 1980, by the following
vote:
