A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD CALLING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR, PROVIDING
FOR THE CONSOLIDATION OF SAID ELECTION WITH
THE GENERAL ELECTION, TO'BE CONDUCTED BY THE
COUNTY, TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 1980, AND
REQUESTING THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE
COUNTY OF KERN TO ORDER THE CONSOLIDATION
OF SAID ELECTIONS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2.0(J) of the Bakersfield
City Charter, the General Municipal Election for the office of
Mayor of the City of Bakersfield for the full term of four years,
shall be held concurrently with the General Election to be conducted
by the County; and
WHEREAS, the General Election will be held on the 4th
day of November, 1980.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. That the General Municipal Election for the office
of Mayor of the City of Bakersfield is hereby called and will be
held on Tuesday, November 4, 1980.
2. That said General Municipal Election for the office
of Mayor of the City of Bakersfield is hereby ordered consolidated
with the General Election, to be conducted by the County, to be
held on Tuesday, November 4, 1980.
3. That the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern
is hereby requested to make an order, pursuant to Section 23302
of the Elections Code of the State of California, consolidating
the General Municipal Election for the office of Mayor, called for
November 4, 1980, with the General Election, to be conducted by
the County, to be held on the same date.
4. That the list of candidates for the office of Mayor
of the City of Bakersfield, as the same.is. to appear on the ballot,
shall be as follows:
MAYOR
VOTE FOR ONE
Charles H. Dodge
Retired Sheriff
Mary K. Shell
Writer
5. That within the City of Bakersfield the precincts,
polling places and officers of election for said General Municipal
Election for the office of Mayor shall be the same as those for
said General Election, to be conducted by the County, within the
City of Bakersfield, as more particularly set forth in the Notice
of Election to be filed and published by the County Clerk of the
County of Kern, giving notice of said elections.
6. That the Board of Supervisors of-the County of Kern
is hereby authorized to canvass or cause to be canvassed the returns
of said General Municipal Election for the office of Mayor, and
shall certify the results of the canvass of said returns to the
Council of the City of Bakersfield, who shall thereupon declare
the results thereof.
7. That the polls will be open for the purpose of hold-
ing said election on said 4th day of November, 1980, between the
hours of 7A. M. and 8 P. M.
8. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to transmit
and file certified copies of this resolution with the Board of
Supervisors and the County Clerk, as required by Section 23302
of the Elections Code of the State of California.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 16th day of July, 1980, by the following
