A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE 1980
U. S. CENSUS EFFORT INCLUDING. THE SELECTION
OF A COMPLETE COUNT COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, the U. S. Bureau of the Census has asked for
local support in publicizing the 1980 U. S. Census in order to
'obtain accurate and complete census information; and
WHEREAS, the City Council unanimously agreed on November 7,
1979, to appoint membership to a Complete Count Committee for the
purpose of informing the public of the importance to the local com-
munity of a complete and accurate census count; and
WHEREAS, the projected census date is April 1, 1980,
and it is important that the Complete Count Committee be formed
and organized as soon as possible with the leadership and ability
to promote the census mission to the people through community-based
organizations, service clubs, schools, churches and the local media.
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Bakersfield
hereby resolves, finds and determines as follows:
That each Council member will appoint one person to
serve on the Complete Count Committee by February 15 to be assisted
by staff to prepare schedules, assignments and information in con-
tacting organizations and the public to encourage full participation
in the upcoming census.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the' foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at.a regular
meeting thereof held on the 6th day of February, 1980, by the follow-
ing vote:
