RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE
BAKERSFIELD REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY TO COMMENCE
PROCEEDINGS TO AMEND THE AMENDED REDEVELOPMENT
PLAN FOR THE DOWNTOWN BAKERSFIELD REDEVELOPMENT
PROJECT
WHEREAS, pursuant to the California Community Redevelopment
Law (Health and Safety Code, Section 33000 et seq.), the City
Council on August 14, 1972 by Ordinance No. 2033 adopted the
Redevelopment Plan for the Downtown Bakersfield Redevelopment
Project, and amended said Redevelopment Plan on November 25,
1974 and August 30, 1976 by Ordinance No. 2216 and Ordinance
No. 2291 respectively, and
WHEREAS, in implementing said Redevelopment Project the
Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency has completed preliminary
studies and planning of certain additional areas in downtown
Bakersfield and has concluded that it is necessary and
.desirable to expand the boundaries of the Project area to
include such additional areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIl. OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council hereby finds and determines that the
proposed expansion of the Project area is in the vital and best
interests of the City of Bakersfield and the-health, safety and
welfare of its residents.
2. The City Council hereby authorizes and directs the
Bakersfield Redevelopment Agency to commence proceedings under
the California Community Redevelopment Law to amend the bounda-
ries of the Downtown Bakersfield Redevelopment Project to include
additional area.
3. The City Council further directs the Bakersfield Rede-
velopment Agency to prepare amendments to the Redevelopment Plan
and other documentation necessary to expand the Project boundaries,
and to submit said amendments and documentation to the City Council
for its consideration and approval.
I 'HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 2eth day of September ,
1979, by the following vote:
