A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD SUPPORTING OBSERVANCE OF MAY 3,
1979, AS THE SECOND ANNUAL SUN DAY.
WHEREAS, Solar energy is a renewable resource, unlike
oil, natural gas, or coal, Solar energy will always be available;
and
WHEREAS, using solar energy creates jobs; and
WHEREAS, Solar energy promotes national energy self-
reliance, as well as individual self-reliance; and
WHEREAS, May 3, 1978, was the first annual celebration
of the Solar Age, celebrated in all 50 of the United Ststes and in
31 other Nations, held to educate us about the potential of solar
energy in meeting our energy needs.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Bakersfield
declare Thursday, May 3, 1979, as the Second Annual Sun Day obser-
vance.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the'foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 18th day of April, 1979, by the following
vote:
