A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD ~KING FINDING THAT A
~JORITY PROTEST HAS NOT BEEN II~DE AND
ORDERING THE TERRITORY DESIGNATED AS
ANNEXATION NO. 261, PROCEEDING NO. 637
UNION AVENUE NO. 8) ANNEXED TO THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD.
WHEREAS, Resolution of Application No. 51-78, dated
May 31, 1978, was submitted to the Local Agency Formation Commis-
sion of Kern County ("Commission") for the annexation of territory
to the City of Bakersfield designated as Annexation No. 261, Pro-
ceeding No. 637 (UNION AVENUE NO. 8); and
WHEREAS, a duly noticed public hearing upon said proposal
was held before the Commission on the 10th day of October, 1978;
and
WHEREAS, following said public hearing, the Commission, on
October 10, 1978, adopted its Resolution Making Determination being
Resolution No. 78-66, recorded in Minute Book 23 of said Commission;
and
WHEREAS, on October 25, 1978, the Council of the City of
Bakersfield, adopted its Resolution No. 111-78, initiating proceed-
ings for annexation of the said territory to the City of Bakersfield,
and set Wednesday the 6th day of December, 1978, at the hour of

Council Chambers of the City Hall, 1501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield,
California, as the time, date and place of hearing on the proposed
annexation where and when any owner of land within the hereinafter-
described territory could appear before the Council of the City of
Bakersfield and show cause why such territory should not be annexed
and owners of land within the said territory were duly informed of
their right to file a written protest against the annexation with
the City Clerk at any time prior to the conclusion of the hearing on
the proposed annexation; and
WHEREAS, the public hearing was duly and regularly con-
ducted by and before the City Council in all respects in accordance
with Resolution No. 111-78, on October 25, 1978.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED by the
Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. In accordance with Section 35229 of the Government
Code it is hereby found, regarding the value of written protests
filed and not withdrawn by owners of land and improvements, at
the conclusion of the public hearing, as follows:
No written protests against the said annexation were
filed with the Clerk of the City of Bakersfield at any time prior
to the conclusion of the public hearing on the proposed annexation.
2. The description of the exterior boundaries of the
territory annexed is contained in Exhibit "A", attached hereto,
and incorporated in this Resolution as though fully set forth
herein',
3. That the said territory designated as Annexation
No. 261, Proceeding No. 637 (UNION AVENUE NO. 8) and described
herein, and every part thereof, is hereby ordered annexed to the
Cityof Bakersfield.
4. That the Clerk shall forthwith transmit a certified
c~py of this resolution ordering a change of organization, along
with any required remittance to cover the fees required by Section
54902.5 of the Government Code, to the executive.officer of the
Local Agency Formation Commission of Kern County.
· 5. That the executive officer of the Commission is
hereby requested to prepare ·and execute a certificate of completion
and make the filings required by Chapter 4 of the Municipal
Organization Act of 1977 and record a certified copy of the
certification of completion with the recorder of Kern County,
with the surveyor of Kern County and with the Clerk of the City
of Bakersfield.

A parcel of land situate in the County of Ke~m, State of California, being
a portion of Section 17, Township 30 South, Range 28 East, bt.D.B. ~ bl., more
particularly described as'follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the east line of the west half of the
northwest quarter of said Section 17 with the north line of the south 30 feet of
the northwest quarter of said section, said intersection being on the northerly
right-of-way line of l~ite Lane, of 60 feet in width, and a point on the exterior
Corporate Boundary of the City of Bakersfield; .
Thence (1) departing said exterior Corporate Boundary, easterly along
last named north line 140 feet, more or less, to intersect the centerline of
the Central Branch of the Kern Island Canal;
Thence {2) generally in a southeasterly direction along said cen~erline;
2500 feet, more or less, to intersect the east line of the west half of said
Section 17, said east line being the east line of Lot 18 of Kern County Sales
Map No. 1 of Lands of J. B. Haggin filed'May 3, 1889 in the Office of the
Kern County Recorder;
Thence (3) southerly along said east line S 00° 03' 13" E; 400 feet,
more or less, to intersect the north line of the south 30 feet of said
Section 17, said north line being the northerly right-of-Way line of Pacheco
Road, of 60 feet in width;
Thence (4) westerly along last named north line and said northerly right-
of-way line, 1313.85 feet, to intersect the east line of the west half of the.
southwest quarter of said Section 17, said east line being the west line of
said Lot 18 of said Kern County Sales Map No. 1;
Thence (S) along said east line, N 00° 03' 13" W, 1321.38 feet, to
~ntersect the south line of the north half of the south half of said Section 17,
said intersection being the southeast comer of Lot 15 of said Kern County Sales
Map No. 1; ..
Thence (6) along last named south line, N i9° S6' 04" W, 1255.36 'feet,
to intersect the east line of the west S7.75 feet of said Section 17, said
intersection being a point on the easterly right-of-way line of Union Avenue,
of llS.S feet in width, said point also being the southwest corner of Parcel 3
as shown on Parcel Map No. 2754 recorded January 16, 1975 in Book 12 of Parcel
Ma~s at page 100, in the Office of the Kern County Recorder;
Thence (7] along said east line and said easterly right-of-way line,
N 00e 01' 19" W, 495.59 feet, to the northwest corner of Parcel 2 of said
Parcel Map No. 2754; ~
Thence (8) S 89° 55' 55" E, 598;67 feet, to intersect the east line of
the west half of the northwest quarter of the southwest quarter of said
Section 17;.,.

of the north 349 feet of the south half of said Section IF; :
Thence (103 westerly along last named 'south ling, 599 feet, more or less,
to intersect the east line of the west 57.75 feet of said Section 17;

-to a point on the north line of the south 30 feet of the northwest quarter of said
Section 17, said point being in the existing Corporate Bound.ary of the City of
'Bakersfield;

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 6th day of December, 1978, by the follow-
