HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 96-82RESOLUTION NO. 9~-82 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD CONFIRMING THE REPORT OF THE BUILDING DIRECTOR RE ASSESSMENTS OF CERTAIN PROPERTIES IN THE CITY FOR DEMOLITION OF DANGEROUS BUILDINGS. WHEREAS, the properties in the City of Bakersfield described by Assessor Parcel Number and street address in Exhibit "A," attached hereto and incorporated by this reference herein, were determined to be dangerous buildings under the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1979 Edition; and WHEREAS, notices and orders of C. A. Bidwell, Building Director of the City of Bakersfield, as provided in Chapter 4 of the above-specified Code, were mailed to the record owners of the aforementioned properties; and WHEREAS, the properties in question were duly posted as provided in Chapter 4 of said Code; and WHEREAS, the demolition of the buildings was paid out of the Repair and Demolition Fund as provided for by Chapter 8 of said Code; and WHEREAS, this assessment proceeding was duly noticed and a hearing held on August 18, 1982, in the Council Chambers of the City of Bakersfield. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield as follows: 1. That the Report on Assessment for Demolition of Dangerous Buildings of C. A. Bidwell, Building Director, attached hereto as Exhibit "A," including the assessments therein set forth, is hereby confirmed. 2. That the property owners named in said Exhibit "A" may pay, or cause to be paid, the charges stated therein at the office of the Finance Department, 1501 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, California, at any time before 5 o'clock p.m., August 19, 1982. 3. That in the event such charges assessed and confirmed against the individual properties as listed in Exhibit "A" are not paid within such time, such assessments shall be appropriately recorded on the assessment roll, and said assessment shall constitute a special assessment against and a lien upon the property. .o0o I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the 18th day of August, 1982, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN: BARTON, CHRISTENSEN, MEANS, PAYNE, RATTY, ROCKOFF, STRONG NOES: COUNCILMEN: ABSENT: COUNCILMEN: ABSTAINING: COUNCILMEN: CITY k of the Council of the City of Bakersfield APPRO~" th:~s ~8'th day of August, 1982 CIT akersfield REPORT ON ASSESSMENT FOR DEMOLITION OF DANGEROUS BUILDINGS In the matter of demolishing and removing of dangerous buildings in the City of Bakersfield, California, as provided by Chapter 8 and 9 of the Uniform Code for the Abatement of Dangerous Buildings, 1976 Edition, and pursuant to my order as Building Director. I, C. A- Bidwell, Building Director of the said City of Bakersfield, do hereby certify that the contractors have performed the work as authorized by me as the Building Director of the City of Bakersfield to demolish and remove the dangerous buildings listed upon the attached sheet, and I have accepted the work contracted for and that the amount due for the work per.formed by said contractor, together with incidental costs are listed on the attached sheet, Exhibit "A". That the preliminary Official Statement, as presented herein, is approved and authorized for distribution subject to any modifica- tions made prior to the final delivery of bonds, such modifications to be approved by Brown & Nazarek (Bond Counsel); a copy of said Official Statement shall be kept on file in the Office of the City Clerk and open for public inspection. That the Treasurer is hereby authorized and directed to keep a redemption fund designated by the name of the proceedings, into which he shall place all sums received for the Collection of the assessments and the interest thereon, together with all penalties, if applicable, thereon and from which he shall disburse such funds upon presentation of proper coupons. Under no circumstances shall the said bonds or interest thereon be paid out of any other fund except as provided by law. That said fund shall be known as "REDEMPTION FUND FOR ASSESSMENT DISTRICT NO. 81-1" That the Treasurer s'hall transfer monies as necessary from the SPECIAL RESERVE FUND in the manner and form as authorized by law.
