A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD OPPOSING SENATE BILL 2089.
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 2089 would remove from the Local
Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) the ability to control their
own budget; and
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 2089 would place Local Agency
Formation Commissions (LAFCOs) under direct control of the County
Board of Supervisors; and
WHEREAS, LAFCO's independence is essential to fair
representation of both cites and counties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Bakersfield opposes Senate Bill 2089 and urges all California
legislators to oppose said Senate Bill 2089.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 9th day of June, 1982, by the
following vote:
