'48-82 A RESOLUTION OF THE COF~CIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD INDICATING ITS SUPPORT FOR THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMErT OF A MULTI-MODEL TRANSIT TERMINAL FOR THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD. WHEREAS, the City Council ("Council") of the City of Bakersfield Council recognizes the critical importance of pro- viding adequate public transportation for all segments of the community; and WHEREAS, the Council recognizes the need for improved public transit facilities for the Bakersfield Central Business District (CBD); and WHEREAS, the Council recognizes the need for a centralized transit terminal that provides convenient and effective access to all modes of public transit. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield by approving this resolution, pledges a commitment to assist as provided herein, in the planning and development of a multi-model transit terminal of the City of Bakersfield. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Bakersfield directs staff to report the findings of certain studies and reports on a routine basis to the Council. The subject studies shall address all pertinent issues relating to the orderly evaluation and design of a multi-model transit facility. These studies and the resulting decisions made by the Council s~all be submitted to the Redevelopment Agency for review and adoption when required. The following summary lists the activities in order of their review: 1. A feasibility study shall be completed defining the public transit needs for the Central City and identifying those segments that will be served by a multi-model transit terminal. 2. Contact and discussions with all public and private agencies wishing to participate in development of a multi-model transit facility will be conducted. 3. The results of such discussions will be formulated into a summary report for inclusion in the overall feasibility. 4. A plan defining the space requirements for the propgsed transit facility, based on discussions with other officials, will be developed. 5. A study defining the ingress and egress requirements of a multi-model transit facility will be 'developed. 6. Land use compatibility will be 'studied, and basic sites capable of supporting a multi-model transit facility will be defined. The economics of such a development will be included within this report. 7. Proposed alternatives for the development of a multi-model transit facility will be presented to the Redevelopment Agency and the Budget Review and Finance Committee of the City Council. 8. Staff is directed to expedite these studies in an expedient fashion and to keep any and all parties' interested in the development of this proposed multi-model transit facility advised.
