HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 47-82RESOLUTION NO. 47-82 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD AUTHORIZING THE CITY ATTORNEY TO SETTLE CLAIMS AGAINST THE CITY IN AMOUNTS NOT EXCEEDING TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($20,000). WHEREAS, California Government Code Section 935.4 provides that a public entity may authorize its employees to allow, compromise or settle claims against the entity in amounts not exceeding Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000) per claim; and WHEREAS, the Office of the City Attorney is charged with the responsibility of defending or otherwise processing claims against the City; and WHEREAS, effective administration of a self-insurance program necessitates the reliance upon legal counsel for disposition of liability claims against the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Bakersfield hereby authorizes the City Attorney to settle claims against the City and that, upon the order of the City Attorney, the auditor or other fiscal officer shall cause a warrant to be issued in an amount specified by the City Attorney not to exceed Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000). .o0o I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the 28th day of April, 1982, by the following vote: COUNCILMEN: BARTON, CHRISTENSEN, MEANS, P.A¥'l'e, RATTY, ROCKOFF, STRONG COUNCILMEN: -/~(;t ABS~:.
