HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 44-82 REEOLUTION NO. 44-82 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 2577. WHEREAS, Assembly Bill 2577 allows off-track horse race betting within certain communities of the State of California; and WHEREAS, Bakersfield is a community where such off-track betting would be allowed; and WHEREAS, off-track betting facilities can be an invitation to the criminal element of our society to invade the City; and WHEREAS, no provision is made in Assembly Bill 2577 for any local control or regulation over such betting facilities; and WHEREAS, no income accrues to the City, although the State collects Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) annually to license off-track betting facilities.
