HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 29-82 RESOLUTION NO. 29-'82 A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL, 1982, NEIGHBORHOOD IWATCH MONTH. WHEREAS, the California Department of Justice statistics reveal that more than one million serious crimes occur in California each year; and WHEREAS, it is the duty of all citizens and institutions to assist in protecting themselves and others from crime; and WHEREAS, the Neighborhood Watch programs develop an informed and involved public who help themselves and others avoid becoming crime victims; and WHEREAS, last year members of the Bakersfield Police Department met with 1,315 persons resulting in 59 Neighborhood Watch programs in our community; and WHEREAS, the local Neighborhood Watch programs have proved to be very successful, and the development of additional programs will be a continuing project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the CounCil of the City of Bakersfield, in recognition of the value of the Neighborhood Watch program, joins the California State legislature in proclaiming the month of April, 1982 as NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MONTH. o0o I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meeting thereof held on the 31st day of March, 1982, by the following vote: AYES: COUNCILMEN: BARTON, CHRISTENSEN, MEANS, PAYNE, p.
