RESOLUTION CALLING THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
FOR THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN IN THE 1ST, 3RD, 4TH
AND 7TH WARDS, TO BE HELD IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD
ON TUESDAY, THE 3RD DAY OF MARCH, 1981, AND DIRECTING
THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH THE NOTICE OF ELECTION.
WHEREAS, Section 67 of the Charter of the City of
Bakersfield requires that a General Municipal Election for the
election of members of the Council shall be held on the first
Tuesday after the first Monday in March in each odd-numbered year.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
1. That the General Municipal Election for the office
of Councilman in the 1st, 3rd, 4th and 7th Wards of the City of
Bakersfield is hereby called and will be held on Tuesday, the 3rd
day of March, 1981.
2. That the election hereby called is consolidated with
the Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting to
the electors of the City of Bakersfield certain amendments to the
City Charter, in all precincts established in Wards 1, 3, 4 and 7,
all as provided for in the Resolution Calling the Special Municipal
Election, which order of consolidation contained therein is incorporated
herein.
3. That the County Clerk of the County of Kern is hereby
requested to conduct the General Municipal Election for the election
of members of the Council from the 1st, 3d, 4th and 7th Wards in
the City of Bakersfield and is requested to provide within the
territory affected, the election precincts, polling places and
voting booths, and one set of election officers in each of the
precincts for the election hereby called and that the offices in
Wards 1, 3, 4 and 7 and the candidates therefor be set forth in
each ballot to be used at said General Municipal Election.
4. That the County Clerk is further requested to procure
and furnish to the election officers the necessary printed ballots
and send to each voter affected by the elections a voter's pamphlet,
together with the sample ballot and polling place notice and'pro-
vide for absent voter's applications and absentee voting for such
elections.
5. The County Clerk is hereby further authorized and
requested to canvass the returns of said General Municipal Election
with respect to the votes cast for the offices of Councilman in
Wards 1, 3, 4 and 7 of the City of Bakersfield and to certify such
canvass of the votes so cast, to the City Council.
6. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
certify to the adoption of this resolution and to transmit copies
thereof so certified to the Board of Supervisors and the County
Clerk of Kern County.
7. That the polls shall be open in all precincts affected
by this election in the City from 7 A. M. to 8 P. M.
8. That the City Clerk shall give all Notices and
perform all advertising as required by law and perform or cause to
be performed all the duties and functions required.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 19th day of November, 1980, by
the following vote:
