A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD PRESCRIBING IMPOUND FEES AND
BOARDING FEES FOR ANIMALS IN THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD.
WHEREAS, the Bakersfield Society for Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.) has, pursuant to the agreement
between it and the City of Bakersfield, submitted a proposed
schedule of fees to be used by the S.P.C.A.; and
WHEREAS, the schedule submitted by the S.P.C.A. appears
to be reasonable and reflect actual costs incurred for each of
the categories of service set forth therein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield that the following fee schedule is hereby
adopted:
1. The impound fee for non-voluntarily impounded animals
shall be as follows:
a. Dogs - $25.00, except for female dogs
in heat, which shall be $35.00, and
for vicious dogs, which shall be $50.00.
b. Cats - $5.00.
c. Pigs, sheep, goats and rabbits - $50.00.
d. Horses and cattle - $75.00.
e. Wild animals - $50.00, up to and including
20 lbs.; $75.00 over 20 lbs.
2. The daily boarding fees shall be as follows:
a. Dogs - $5.00, except giant breed dogs and
female dogs in heat, which shall be $7.00,
and vicious dogs, which shall be $10.00.
b. Cats - $1.00. ~
c. Pigs, sheep and goats - $5.00.
d. Horses and cattle - $7.50.
e. Rabbits - $3.00.
f. Exotic birds - $5.00.
g. Wild animals - $5.00, up to and including
20 lbs.; $10.00 over 20 lbs.
3. The impound fee for animals voluntarily surrendered at
the shelter shall be:
a. Dogs - $10.00, except dogs under four (4)
months of age shall be $5.00.
b. Cats - $5.00, except cats under four (4)
months of age shall be $3.00.
4. If an owner requests that an animal be impounded and
picked up by the S.P.C.A., the owner shall pay a fee of $10.00 if
the owner requests impound between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and
5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, or the owner shall pay a fee
of $15.00 at all other times. If an owner requests that an
animal be picked up and euthanized by the S.P.C.A., the owner
shall pay a fee of $15.00 if the service is requested between the
hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 pm., Monday through Saturday, or the
owner shall pay a fee of $20.00 at all other times.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of October, 1981, by
the following vote:
