A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD SETTING FRIDAY,
JULY 3RD, 1981 AS THE DAY OF
OBSERVANCE FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY
JULY 4, 1981.
WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Bakersfield,
Section 12 authorizes the City Council to provide for
benefits for officers and employees of the City; and
WHEREAS, July 4, 1981, Independence Day, is a
nationally recognized holiday in the United States, the
observance of which 'the Council desires to be on Friday,
July 3rd, 1981.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield as follows:
All employees of the City of Bakersfield shall observe
July 3rd, 1981 as a holiday, except that employees working on a
24-hour shift and Police Department employees working on a shift
basis, except those who are absent without pay, 1/2 day or more
immediately before and/or after said July 3rd, 1981, shall be
paid said 8-hour holiday of July 3rd, 1981.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of BakerSfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 1st day of July, 1981, by the
following vote:
