A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD COMMENDING POLICE OFFICERS
ROBERT McDOUGAL, JESUS MOLINAR AND JOE RUIZ
FOR THEIR DEDICATION TO DUTY
WHEREAS, police officers are entrusted with the responsi-
bility of protecting persons and property; and
WHEREAS, such protection often exposes police officers
to dangers of serious injury or even death; and
WHEREAS, Officers Robert McDougal and Jesus Molinar,
without regard for their own safety, and in an attempt to protect
the residents of Bakersfield from potential criminal conduct,
were shot and wounded by a bullet fired from the gun of a felon;
and
WHEREAS, Officer Joe Ruiz, while attempting to rapidly
respond to a call, was seriously injured when struck by an auto-
mobile; and
WHEREAS, the conduct of Officers Robert McDougal, Jesus
Molinar and Joe Ruiz reflects total dedication to their profession
and to the protection of citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield that the City Council commends Officers
Robert McDougal, Jesus Molinar and Joe Ruiz for their dedication
to duty even under the most adverse circumstances.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the 17th day of June, 1981, by the
following vote:
