RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD DIRECTING STAFF TO MAKE APPLICATION
TO THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION FOR A LOAN
UNDER THE ENERGY CONSERVATION ASSISTANCE ACT
OF 1979 FOR CONVERSION OF STREET LIGHTS TO
HIGH PRESSURE SODIUM VAPOR LAMPS, AND AUTHORIZING
MAYOR TO EXECUTE LOAN AGREEMENT CONSISTENT WITH
APPLICATION.
WHEREAS, by motion on March 11, 1981, this Council
accepted Report No. 1-81 of the Council's Energy Committee, concern-
ing Street Light Conversion Projects, and directed staff to make
application to the California Energy Commission for a loan in the
amount of $172,560.00 for conversion of street lights to high
pressure sodium vapor lamps; and
WHEREAS, this Council is advised that the California
Energy Commission requires that such action of this Council be
set forth in a resolution of this Council which authorizes execution
of a loan agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
City of Bakersfield that staff be and hereby is directed to make
application for the above-described loan under the Energy Conserva-
tion Assistance Act of 1979, and that should such application be
approved by the California Energy Commission, the Mayor is hereby
authorized to execute a loan agreement consistent with the terms
of such apllication.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the 'foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof held on the' 1st day of April, 1981, by the
following vote:
