A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BAKERSFIELD ENDORSING KERNCOG'S APPLICATION
FOR THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S
NEW COMPREHENSIVE TSM MANAGEMENT ASSISTANCE
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires the continued upgrading
of the traffic signal system for the entire Metropolitan Bakersfield
Area; and
WHEREAS, signal system improvement can result in energy
conservation, better traffic circulation and capacity, and improve-
ment in intersection safety; and
WHEREAS, funds are available for signal system improvement
from the U. S. Department of Transportation through the new Compre-
hensive Transportation System Management Assistance Program; and
WHEREAS, if any funding is required by the City of
Bakersfield, such funding is subject to approval by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield to give full support and endorsement to the KERN
Council of Governments' application for funds through the Comprehen-
sive Transportation System Management Assistance Program of the
United States Department of Transportation for use in studies and
installation of a central master computerized traffic signal system
in the Bakersfield Metropolitan Area.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a
regular meeting thereof hel'd on the 18th day of February, 1981,
by the following vote:
