WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern,
State of California, has made appliOation to the Director of
Finance of' the State.of California, for an assignment of an ap-
plication, filed by the Department of Finance in the year 1927,
for the appropriation of unappropriated waters in the Kern River,
to the County of Kern for the purpose· of enabling Kern County,
to a large extent, to secure the necessary water by said County to
maintain a recreational pool of 30,000 acre feet behind the Isabella
Dam for recreational purposes, and
This Council is cognizant of the benefits to be derived by
the citizens· of this County as well as the inhabitants of the sur-
rounding counties of Tulare, Los Angeles, . San Bernardin0 and other
areas, by the establishment and permanent maintenance of a minimum
pool behind Isabella Dam of 30,000 acre feet, and
In order to establish and maintain such a water reserve
is necessary that wat'er rights be acquired by the County of Kern.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City
of Bakersfield,. as follows:
1. That this Council hereby goes on record.as fully and
wholeheartedly supporting the ·application of the Board of Supervisors
of the County of Kern for an aSsignnent of the priority application
of the State of California to the unappropriated waters of Kern
River.
2. That the Director of Finance of the State of California
is hereby .urged to give serious. consideration to the appeal of the
Board of Supervisors of Kern County that'the application of the
State Department of Finance for the appropriation of unappropriated
waters in Kern River, be transferred to the County of Kern.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
