WHEREAS, it has come to .the attention of this Council that ap-
plications have been filed with the Civil Aeronautics Board by two
airline companies, for permission to establish airline' service between
Bakersfield, California, -and other terminal points, and
WHEREAS, due to the tremendous growth' of the City' of Bakersfield
and the. increase in population both inside and outside the City of
Bakersfield, it. is believed by this Council that airline service to
and from Bakersfield and adjacent territory should be increased.
· .NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Bakersfield file
a petit'ion for leave to intervene in the consolidated cases of the
Bonanza Air Lines, Inc., and Southwest Airways Company, showing the
need 'for additional air service in and out of Greater Bakersfield,
and such other information as may be necessary in bringing additional
air service to this community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor be and he is hereby author-
ized to execute such petition for leave to intervene, for filing with the
Civil Aeronautics Board.

. I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Councilor the City of Bakersfield at alregular meet-
ing thereof held on the 10th day.of August, 1953, by the following
