RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF
JUNE 21-27, 1953, AS DISABLED AMERICAN
VETERANS WEEK.
WHEREAS, members of the Disabled "American Veterans,
Department of California, have elected to hold their 32nd'Annual.
Convention in the City of Bakersfield June 21-24, and,
WHEREAS, the patriotic and charitable group known as the
Disabled American Veterans, through its members., Chapters and
Department Headquarters, have in the past served an important
social function in the form of aid to veterans of all wars,
incurring the gratitude of the people of Bakersfield, and,
WHEREAS, members of the Disabled American Veterans are
men and women who have been disabled in war-time duty with the
United States Armed Services, thereby earning for them a place o'f
special respect and honor among our citizens, and,
WHEREAS, members of the Disabled American Veterans will
utilize the period of their stay in the City of Bakersfield in
planning the future course of their good works,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of Bakersfield
this day proclaims the week of June 21-27, 1953, as DISABLED AMERICAN
VETERANS WEEK, and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the people of Bakersfield reserve
the :week of June 21-27, 1953, to honor those men and women who have
become disabled as the result of service to our Country.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 1st day of June, 1953~ by the following
vote:
