RESOLUTION DECLARING RESULT OF CAN-
VASS OF RETURNS OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL
ELECTION HELD IN THE FIRST WARD OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD ON TUESDAY THE 14th
DAY OF APRIL, 1953, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
ELECTING A COUNCILMAN IN SAID WARD.
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 16-53, passed and adopted by
this Council on March 30, 1953, a general municipal election was
held in the First Ward of the City of Bakersfield on the 14th day
of April, 1953, for the purpose of electing a councilman in said
Ward for a full term of four years, and
WHEREAS, after notice as required by law said election was
duly held and conducted on the aforesaid date, and the returns of
said election have been canvassed by this Council, sitting as a
canvassing board.
NOW, THEREFORE, in compliance with Section 7921 (a) of the
Elections Code of the State of California, this Council does hereby
determine and declare the results of said election to be as follows:

That of the total number of vo.tes cast, excluding the absentee
votes, twelve were rejected for illegality and declared void by
the precinct board of Consolidated Precinct No. 6, which finding
is hereby accepted by this Council.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Henry H. Collins is hereby
declared to be elected to the office of City Councilman from the
First Ward of the City of Bakersfield for a full term of fou~ years.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Re,solution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 20th day of April, 1953, by the follow-
ing vote:
