RESOLUTION 0F INTENTION TO AMEND
ORDINANCE N0. 501 NEW SERIES OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA
BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
that it is the intention of this Council to ame'nd subsection (a)
of Section 12 of Zoning Ordinance No. 501 New !Series, by adding
thereto mother subdivision to be numbered 5, which subdivision
shall read as follows:
5' Establishments or .enterprises involving large assemblages
of people or automobiles, including: amusement .parks, circuses,
carnivals, expositions, fair grounds, open-air 'and/or drive-in theatres
and cinemas, race tracks, recreational and spor'.ts centers, may be
permitted in any co~m~rcial zones (C-1 and C-2)~ or any industrial
zone (M-1 or M-2), provided such uses are deeme~d essential and desir-
able to the public convenience or welfare, and ,are in harmony with
the various elements or objectives of the Zoning or Districting Plan
of the City, and shall not constitute a nuisanc!e to the neighborhood,
nor interfere with the health, safety, peace, morsls, comfort and
general welfare of the citizens of the City of Bakersfield in viola-
tion of the intent and purpose set forth in Secitton I of Zoning
Ordinance No. 501 New Series. "
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Planning Commission of the
City of Bakersfield be and the same is hereby directed and instructed
to hold a public hearing on the proposal to so amend Ordinance No.
501 New Series, and to give notice of such publ'ic hearing as provided
in said Ordinance. After the conclusion of sai'd hearing, said
Planning Commission shall make a report to this' Council of its findings
and recommendations with respect to said proposed amendment.

HEREBY CERTIFY that the £oregoing Re, solution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 23rd day of March, ~1953, by the follow-
ing vote:
