buildings and' ftLrnishings for the hospitalization of approximately
65~0 hospit~al bed patients were destroyed·and damaged, and
WHEREAS, a,nmnber of t.empo~ary in~.tallations have partially
restored hospitalization for app~oXiEately 300 'bed patients in
Kern County,. however, a very critical shortage of adequate facilities
continues to exist in IBakersfield~'a~d~Ker~I.~Coun~y, and
~ WTREREAS, Mercy Hospital Bakersfield is makin~~ application to
they 'Commandant of the Eleventh ·Naval DiStrict to transport buildings
from 'Port Hueneme to Bakersfield ~or use during the present hospital

NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield
does hereby· re:quest that favorable consideration be given t0 the
'application of MerCy Hospital Baker.s~ie!d', for the purpose of sup-
plement'Ing the exLsting shortage of-hospitalization.
