HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 41-52 HES0L TION N0. ASCERTAINING AND DETErmINING THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE PAID FOR THE FOLLOWING PUBLIC IN~ROVEMENT IN THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA. WHEREAS, the City Council did on the 23rd day of June, 1952, adopt Resolution of Intention No. 696 for the construction of sanitary sewers and appurtenances in Planz Road and other streets and alleys, known as Public Improvement District No. 696, in the City of Bakersfield, California; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 1773 of the Labor Code of the State of California, it is necessary that the City Council of the City of Bakersfield ascertain and'determine the general prevailing rate of wages on public works; and by the provisions of said Code, it is mandatory upon the awarding body of any public improvement to ascertain and determine the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which the work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract, and also the general prevailing rate for legal holidays and overtime work for each craft or type of workman or mechanic. . NOW, TEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Bakersfield has ascertained and does hereby determine that the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which the said work described is to be performed in the matter 'of certain public improvements of said streets and alleys, all in the City of Bakersfield, California, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract and also the general prevailing rate for legal holidays and overtime work for each craft or type of workman or mechanic, to be as follows: - i - Classification Hourly Wage Rate Bricklayer . . ................... - Carpenter . . . ....... · · .... · · · · · · Cement Finisher ................... Provided that one and one-half (1½) times the said prevailing rate of wages shall be paid for any time more than eight (8) hours during any one (1) calendar day where such work is required in cases of extra- ordinary emergency caused by fire, flood or danger to life or property and for time on Sundays and seven (7) legal holidays, to wit: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thar~sgiving and Christmas.
