HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 7-52RESOLUTION OF AWARD OF CONTRACT NO. ~-~A_ RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING THE CONTRACT FOR WORK DESCRIBED IN RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 689. RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Bakersfield, California, having in open session on the 7th day of January, 1952 publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed proposals or bids for the following work to be done and improvements to be made in said City, to-wit: The construction of vitrified clay pipe sanitary sewers, vitrified clay pipe house connection sewers, vitrified clay pipe Wye branches, vitrified clay pipe lamp-holes, pre-cast cement concrete manholes, steel casing under Kern Island Canal, and appurtenant work in connection therewith, in South Chester Avenue and other streets and alleys, known as Public Improvement District No. 689 (El Camino Park Annex), all as more particularly described in Resolution of Intention No. 689, passed and adopted by the City Council of said City on the 13th day of November, 1951 and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. For further particulars, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 689 and to the plans, profiles and drawings, consisting of 7 sheets, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Bakersfield, and to the specifications for the said work heretofore adopted by the said City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and all of said plans, profiles, drawings and specifications heretofore approved by the City Council of said City are incorporated here in and made a part hereof, and reference is hereby made thereto for a more particular description of said work. Said City Council has determined and declared that the contemplated work and improvement heretofore mentioned was, in the opinion of s aid City Council, of more than local or ordinary public benefit and the City Council has made the expenses of said work chargeable - i - RESOLUTION OF AWARD OF CONTRACT NO. Said City Council has determined and declared that the contemplated work and improvement heretofore mentioned was, in the opinion of s aid City Council, of more than local or ordinary public benefit and the City Council has made the expenses of said work chargeable - i upon a district. For the particular description of said district, reference is hereby made to said Resolution of Intention No. 689. Said Council has determined and declared that serial bonds, bearing interest at the rate of six per cent (6%) per annum and extending over a period ending nine (9) years from the second day of January next succeeding the next October 15th following their date, will be issued hereunder in the manner provided by the "Improvement Act of 1911", being Part 5, Division VII of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, to represent each assessment of Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) or more remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of recording the warrant, All of the work herein ordered shall be done and carried through in pursuance of an act of the legislature of the State of California, designated the "Improvement Act of 1911" , being Division VII of the Streets and Highways Code6 Said City Council hereby rejects all of the said proposals or bids, except the next hereinafter mentioned, and here~y awards the contract for the said work and improvement to the lowest, regular and responsible bidder, to-wit~ To Joe D. Miller at the prices named in his bid for said work, on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to cause a NOTICE OF AWARD OF CONTRACT to be published in the manner and form required by said Code, by two insertions in the "Bakersfield Californian", a daily newspaper published and circulated in the City of Bakersfield and hereby designated for the purpose by the said City Council.
