A RESOLUTION OF TEE CiTY COUNCIL OF T~
CITY OF B~RSFISD C~LING A SPECIal
ELECTION IN TE SE~NTH WA~ OF SAID CITY
FOR TE P~POSE OF FILLING A V!C~CY ON
SAID CITY COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, Claude A. Morelock, Councilman from t'he Seventh
Ward, resigned on October 22, 1951, and
WEREAS, on November l, 1951, a' petition was filed with
this Council signed by electors 'of the Seventh Ward equal in number
to more than twenty-five percent of the. total vote cast for council-
man therein at the last .general election, praying for .a special
election to fill the vacancy o~ this, CoUncil caused by said resigna-
tion of Claude A. Morelock, in compliance with Section 16 of the
City Charter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that a special election be
held, and the same is hereby called to be held in the Seventh Ward
of the City of Bakersfield on Tuesday, the 8th 'day of January, 1952,
for the purpose of filling the existing vacancy in the office of
Councilman from the Seventh Ward.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that candidates for the office of
.Councilman from the Seventh Ward shall file ~ th the City Clerk
their declarations of candidacy and petitions for nomination in the
form and manner and within the time prescribed by Article VII 'of
the City Charter.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that~ the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at
a regular meeting thereof held' on the 13th day of November, 1951,
by the foll owing vote:
