SUBJECT = SAFETY WEEK
DATE: APRIL 30th to MAY 5, 1951.
WHEREAS, there is a constant need for an educational
program to make the public safety-conscious, and
WHEREAS, accidents take an appalling annual toll in
lives and property, and
WHEREAS, safety not only applies to traffic and high-
ways, but should be practiced in industries, farms, homes, and
schools, and
WHEREAS, during the past two years insurance costs have
risen sharply because of increasing number of accidents, and
WHEREAS, the reduction in the number of accidents would
not only save lives and property but also wo~jhd divert insurance
dollars into Kern County economic channels,
NGV, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
That the Bakersfield City Council hereby declare the
week of April 30 to May 5 as ,,NEE COUNTY SAFETY WEEK,', and
BE IT M~THER RESOLVED, that the assistance and co-
operation of all Chambers of Commerce and similar civic organizations
throughout Kern County be invited and urged to actively participate
in this important cause.
