RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAkERSFIELD SUBNiTTING THE PROPOSED
OPENING Ai~D EXTENSION OF 26TH STREET
FROM ITS PRESENT EASTERLY TERNIiqUS T0-
NILES STREET AT ITS PRESENT WESTERLY
TERMINUS TO THE PLANT~ING C0k~ISSION.
WHEREAS, this Council proposed to open and extend 26th
Street in an easterly direction from its present easterly terminus
so as to cause the same to connect with Niles Street at its presen~
westerly terminus, and
V~rHEREAS, in order to effect such connection, it will be neces-
sary for the City of 'Bakersfield to acquire a. right of way for
street purposes across a strip of land 82.~ feet in width lying
southerly of and adjacent to the north line of Section 30, T. 29 S.,
R. 28 E., M. D. B. & M,, and extending from the U. S. Segregation
Line east to the center line of the. Gravel Pit Spur of the Southern
Pacific Railroad Company, and to open a crossing at grade over said
Gravel Pit Spur, and
~HEREAS, Ordinance No. ~01 New Series of the Cityof Bakers-
field, passed by this Council on July 26, 1937, adopted a zoning
or districting plan for the City, which 'plan constitutes one of the
subjects matter of a master plan for the City, and said plan is
still in effect, and
.~IEREAS, the Planning Commission is set up.and designed and
required by law to study and report on matters of such character.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said proposed opening
and extension of 26th Street be and the same is hereby submitted
to the Pla~ming Commission of the City of Bakersfield with instructions
to study-said proposal and to' report tol this Council its appro.~al
or disapproval of said proposal, together with its reasons therefor.

I'HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the 18th day of December, 19~0, by the
following vote:
