RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BAKERSFIELD REGARDING CITIZENS'
CHARTER COMMITTEE.
WHEREAS, this Council, on the 20th day of November, 1950,
appointed a. citizens' committee to make a study of the Charter
of the City of Bakersfield and to suggest improvements therein, and
~WHEREAS it is generally recognized. that the City Charter
as presently written is in need of certain revisions and amend-
ments, and .
WHERE&S, said citizens' committee is composed of responsible
citizens of ~this community who have demonstrated an interest in
this matter, and who are planning an intensive study of the charter
and the.workings of the city government before recommending what
amendments and revisions should be made, and
VfHF. RE&S, this Council feels that any proposals for-changes
in the City Charter made by this committee will merit consideration
by the electors.
NOW, THEKEFORE, BE IT RESOLVED ..that it is the intention of
this City Council, to submit anY changes in the City Charter pro-
posed by the aforesaid citizens' committee to the electors of the
City of IBakersfield, at the next regular election after such pro-
posals have been made at which it is legally possible to do so,
or at a special election called for said purpose.
I HEREBY.CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield
at a regular meeting thereof held on the llth day.of December?
