RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
B.&tGERSFIELD CALLING A SPECIAL ~jNICIPAL
ELECTION IN SAID CITY FOR THE PURPOSE OF
SUBNITTING A PROPOSITION TO THE ELECTORS,
ORDERING THE CONSOLID.ATION OF SAID SPECIAL
MUNICIPAL ELECTION WITH THE GE~Et~AL STATE
ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVENBER 7, 19~0,
AND REQUESTING TPiE BO.ARD OF SUPERVISORS OF
THE COUNTY OF KERN TO ORDER THE CONSOLIDATION
OF SAID ELECT-IONS.
WHEREAS, the City of Bakersfield is in need of a new City
Hall and the City Council intends to go forward with plans for the
construction of said new City Hall in the near future; and
WHEREAS, there has been much public discussion on the question
of whether said new City Hall should be constructed upon the site of
the present City Hall, or upon the land now occupied by Central Park
in the City of Bakersfield; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council before proceeding
to make further plans for the construction of said new City Hall to
obtain the opinion of the electors of the City as to the preferable
site for said new City Hall.
NOW, THEEFOE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Bakersfield, as follows, to-vtit:
15 That a special municipal election be held and the same is
hereby called to be held in the City of Bakersfield, California, on
the 7th day of November, 19~0, for the purpose of submitting a
proposition in the form of an advisory ballot to the qualified voters
of said City to determine'the preference of said voters regarding
the site for a new City Hall.
2. That said proposition shall be placed on the ballot to be
used at said special municipal election in the following words and
figures, to-wit:
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD ADVISORY BALLOT
When a new City Hall is built shall
it be constructed on the present
site of the City Hall or on land
now occupied by Central Park?

B. That within the City of Bakersfield the precincts, voting
places and officers for said special mur~icipal election shall be the
same as those provided for said general state election within said
City. The Board of Supervisors of the County of Kern, is hereby
authorized to canvass the returns of said special municipal election
and shall certify the results of the canvass of said returns to
the Council of the City of Bakersfield, who shall thereupon declare
the results thereof.
4. That the Clerk of thi~ Council is hereby directed to
submit to the Clerk of the Board ofoSupervisors~ a certified copy of
this resolution.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed
and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular
meeting thereof held on the ~th day of September, 1950, by the
following vote:
