HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES NO 13-50BSESOLUTION NO. 1B-50 WHEHEAS, certain persons are broadcasting statements and spreading rumors that a number of elective and appointive officers of the City of Bakersfield are involved in the current scandal concerning nude pictures of young girls in lewd and indecent postures and practices, and that prosecuting officers are suppres- sing investigation and prosecution as to some of the principals involved; AND, WREEEAS, suppression of proceedings against public officers or any other person who may be involved in such matters would be abhorrent and repulsive to even the most rudimentary sense of decency; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Bakersfield that the public welfare requires a full and complete investigation of whatever facts there may be upon which such rumors and public charges are based, and that to such end a public investigation by the Grand Jury, the District Attorney and the Sheriff,s Office be made and that the facts be disclosed; AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Council does not look with favor upon the suppression of such information; that the City Council hereby requests that the Chief of Police and his Department lend themselves in every possible way in assisting the District Attorney and the Sheriff and/or the Grand Jury in a full and complete investigation; and that, if the facts warrant, criminal proceedings be instituted and prosecuted, and that all guilty persons be punished regardless of who they may be or what official position they may hold. ............ o0o .....
