WHEREAS, VANCE HATFIELD VAN RIPER has retired from the
service of the City of Bakersfield, as of February 17, 1950,
and
WHEREAS~ he has a record of long and distinguished
service with the City of Bakersfield, extending over a period
of thirty-two years, eight months and thirteen days~ in the
capacities of Assessor, Treasurer~ Clerk~ Auditor and City
Nanager, having served in the latter capacity when the City of
Bakersfield was confronted with many and varied problems. arising
from the Second World War and the immediate postwar period, and
WHERE&S, his separation from the City service will be
a great loss to the City of Bakersfield, and his absence will
be felt for some time to come.
NOW~ THERE.E, BE IT RESOLVED that this Council expresses
its profound appreciation for the long, honest and faithful
service of Nr. Van Riper, and its good wishes to him as he leaves
the public service of the City of Bakersfield.
