A RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO CALL A SPECIAL
ELECTION TO SUBMIT THE QUESTION OF ANNEXA-
TION TO THE ELECTORS 'RESIDING IN THE TERRI-
TORY PROPOSED TO BE ,ANNEXED, .AND SETTING THE
TIME FOR HEARING OBJECTIONS THERETO.
I~F2{EAS, a petition signed by not less than one-fourth (1/4)
in number of the qualified electors residing within the territory
described therein, as shown by the registration of voters of the
county in which such territory is situated, was filed with the
Council of the City of Bakersfield on July 2~, 1949, requesting
that the inhabited territory therein described be annexed to and
incorporated and included within the corporate limits of the City
6f Bakersfield.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that it is the intention of
the Council of the City of Bakersfield, to call a special election,
giving at least fifty days notice thereof, and submit to the electors
residing in the territory proposed by such petition to be annexed
to and incorporated and included within the 'corporate limits of said
City of Bakersfield the question, whether such territory shall be
annexed to, incorporated in aD~ made a part of such municipal cor-
poration.
That the boundaries of the territory so proposed to be
annexed to the City of Bakersfield are described as follows:
Beginning at the,point of intersection of the northerly
line of Terrace Way with the easterly boundary line of
the Virginia Tract as said Way and Tract are shown on
the Map of the Virginia Tract, recorded in Nap Book Nb. 3,
page 702 Official Records of Kern County, California,
said pomnt of intersection being a southeasterly corner
of the corporate limits of the City of Bakersfield,
California; thence northerly along the said easterly
boundary line of the Virginia Tract and the northerly
prolongation thereof, said easterly boundary line and
prolongation being a portion of the corporate limits of
said City, to its intersection with the northerly line of
Brundage Lane; t~ence easterly along the northerly line
of Brundage Lane, said northerly line being a portion of
the corporate limits of said City to its intersection
with the northerly prolongation o~ the easterly line of
Tract No. 1061 as per Map of said Tract recorded in Map
Book 4, page 113 Official Records of Kern County,
California; thence southerly along said prolongation
of and the easterly line of said Tract No. 106i ~to
the southeasterly corner of said Tract; said corner
.being on the northerly line of Lot 12 in Section 6,
T. 30 S., R. 28 E., M. D. B. & M., as said lot is shown
on :'Kern County Sales ~ap No. I of Lands of J. B. Haggin"
filed for record in the Office of the County Recorder
of Kern County, California, May 3, 1889; thence southerly,
parallel with the westerly line of said Lot 12, to a point
of intersection with the northerly line of a 60 foot-wide
road along the southerly side of said Lot 12, said road
being known as Terrace Way, hereinbefore mentioned; thence
westerly along the northerly line of said Terrace Way to
its point of intersection with the hereinbefore mentioned
easterly boundary line of the Virginia Tract and place
of beginning of this description, containing 27.24 acres
of land, more or less.
"Dobrusky Square District", which is an appropriate desig-
nation identifying such territory and by which such territory may
be referred to and indicated upon the ballots to be used at said
special election, iS situated in the County of Kern, State of
California.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Monday, the l~th day of .&ugust,
1949, at the hour of eight o'clock P.M., in the Council Chambers
in the City Hall in the City of Bakersfield, County of Kern~ State
of California, is the day, hour and place, when and where any
person owning real property within such territory so proposed to
be annexed and having any objections to the proposed annexation,
may appear before the Council of the City of Bakersfield and show
cause why such territory should not be so annexed.
At any time not later than the hour set for hearing objections
to the proposed election, any owner of property within the territory
proposed to be annexed may make written protest against the proposed
election. Such protest must be in writing' and shall state the name
or names of the owner or owners of the property affected thereby
and the location and area of such property in general terms.
The City Clerk shall cause a copy of this Resolution of

Intention to be published once a week for two successive weeks
prior to August 15, 1949~ in The Bakersfield Press, a newspaper
of general circulation published in the City of Bakersfield, there
bei~ no such newspaper published in the territory proposed to be
annexed.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution of Intention
was passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,
at a regular meeting thereof held on the 2~th day of July, 1949,
by the following vote:
