WHEREAS ~ that portion of State Highway Route No. 151 immediately
adjacent to the southerly limits of the City of Bakersfield, commonly
known and designated as Brundage Lane, has become a principal traffic
artery for residents and businessmen in a large portion of the southern
part of the city and adjacent unincorporated area, and
V~HEREAS, the bridges located on said Brundage Lane, particularly
State Bridge No..&-037 in the 700 Block, and State Bridge No. ,A-069,
located in the 1200 Block of said Brundage Lane, are so narrow as
to be inadequate to serve the ever-increasing volume of traffic using
the same, and constitute traffic hazards, and
V~EERE&S, great numbers of school children are compelled to use
said narrow bridges in walking to and from school, and the danger
of their being struck by passing vehicles is a matter of grave con-
cern to this Council.
NOW~ THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of
Bakersfield, that the Division of Highways of the State of California
is hereby urged to take immediate action to widen the aforementioned
bridges to alleviate the existing hazardous situation.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was passed and
adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield at a regular meet-
ing thereof held on the 31st day of Nay, 1959, by the following vote:
