WHEREAS, the County of Kern, through its Board of
Supervisors, and the City of Bakersfield, through its City Council,
are desirous of providing housing for veterans in the urban area of
greater Bakersfield, and
WHEREAS, such housing consisting of 140 dwelling units
is made available by the Federal Public Housing .Authority under
Veterans Housing Project, CAL-V-4~4, subject to the rules and con-
ditions of the said Housing Authority, and
WHEREAS, the County of Kern, through its Board of Super-
visors has indicated a willingness to execute as sponsor, the required
contract with the Federal Public Housing .Authority for the said project
and to finance the sponsor's contribution to completion of the project
subject to being reimbursed by the City of Bakersfield in the amount
of one-half of the total cost of said sponsor's contribution. The said
Board further indicates a willingness to negotiate with the State of
California for the reimbursement to the sponsor, by the State of Cali-
fornia, of 90% of the sponsor's contribution as provided in Chap: 29,
Statutes of 1946 (lst Ext. Session).
NOW, THF~REFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,-That the City of Bakers-
field agrees to commit itself Jointly with the County of Kern, to the
payment of one-half of the sponsor's contribution 'toward the completion
of said project based on a total estimated sponsores contribution of
$57,345.00.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the City of Bakersfield agrees
to provide, through its Engineering Department, the engineering required
on said project; to provide sewerage service at the prescribed rate
for such service; and to aid in the leveling of the site and the grading
and oiling of the streets with City equipment when such equipment is
available, the City to-be reimbursed for said services by payment or by
credit against its contribution or by both such payment and credit°
I HEREBY CERTIBY that the foregoing Resolution v~as
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield, at
a regular meeting thereof held on the 22nd day of July~ 1946~ by
the following' vote:
