A RESOLUTION RELATIVE
TO A SPECIAL CENSUS.
~YHEREAS, under' date of March 20, 1946, the City Manager
of the City of Bakersfield did make formal request to the Depart-
ment of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, for a special census of
the City of Bakersfield, and
WHEREAS, in reply to said formal request, the Director
of the Census by letter dated April 2, 1946, has set the approximate
cost of the census for the City of Bakersfield, based on an assumed
population of 35,000, as $4600.00, said assumed population represent-
ing an increase of approximately 20% over the 1940 population, and
WHEREAS, before the census can be started it is necessary
for the City to make a deposit of $1750.00 in a local bank,~ subject
to the check of the Supervisor, and likewise it is necessary for the
City to have a fund available to pay the actual expense of the
enumeration, the above figure of $4600.00 being an estimate only;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TRE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BAKERSFIELD, at its regular session, that the sum of $1750.00
be deposited in the Bank of America N. T. &' S. A., Bakersfield Branch,
Bakersfield, California, subject to the check of the Supervisor of
the Special Census, and that the City make available sufficient
funds to pay the entire expense of the enumeration as determined
by the Director of the Census.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was
passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Bakersfield,
at a regular meeting thereof held on the l~th day of April, 1946,
by the following vote:
